Kyoto Nov 21-23 Long Weekend: Business Hotels 98.3%, 75.1% Sold Out
Posted: 2026.10.24The three-day weekend starting Saturday, November 21 and including Labor Thanksgiving Day (Monday, November 23) sits at the core of the autumn foliage season for Kyoto's lodging market. Checking the booking curves as of October 22, 2026, Kyoto Prefecture business hotels for the first night, Saturday 11/21, had reached an estimated OCC at 31 days before the stay date (observed 10/21) (OTA listed-inventory basis) of 98.3% with a sold-out property rate of 75.1%, while city hotels stood at 97.0% and ryokan at 96.6% — remaining inventory is thin in all three segments. Within the same long weekend, however, there is a clear step-down: the middle day, Sunday 11/22, is at 93.8% for business hotels and the final day, Monday 11/23, at 81.7%, while the preceding regular Saturday, 11/14, is at 93.0% at 24 days out — 5.3pt below the first night of the long weekend. This article lines up four dates — the first day, middle day and final day of the long weekend plus the preceding Saturday — on the same yardstick. Referring to how October's Sports Day three-day weekend (10/10–12) filled over its last 30 days, it then lays out, in the form of a back-calculated calendar, how...

Shimonoseki Kaikyo Marathon: Race Eve 90.4% OCC at T-45, 94.3% Now
Posted: 2026.10.24The Shimonoseki Kaikyo Marathon 2026 (下関海響マラソン) takes place on Sunday, November 1, 2026. According to the race guidelines on the official website, the marathon has a field of 10,000 runners (first come, first served), starts at 8:30 a.m. with a 6-hour time limit, and both starts and finishes in front of Kaikyo Messe Shimonoseki. HotelBank Editorial Team tracked booking progress for Shimonoseki City accommodation (N=33 properties / 1,620 rooms, based on listings on major booking sites) from 45 days before each stay date. Race eve, Saturday, October 31, had already reached an estimated OCC (based on OTA-listed inventory) of 90.4% at 45 days out and stood at 94.3% at the latest observation (9 days out), filling at a pace nearly 15pt ahead of the previous Saturday, October 24, which was at 75.5% at 45 days out. By contrast, race night, Sunday, November 1, moved only from 76.2% at 45 days out to 83.6% at 10 days out, and two nights before, Friday, October 30, from 64.1% at 45 days out to 77.7% at 8 days out — the demand concentrated on race eve has not fully spilled over to the surrounding nights. This article overlays the booking curves for race...

Asian Games September: Aichi City ADR +53.7%, Business +53.2% YoY
Posted: 2026.10.24Settled ADR estimates in Aichi Prefecture jumped a full step above the prior year in September 2026. For city hotels (N=31 properties), the settled figure was ¥18,141, up 53.7% from ¥11,803 in September 2025; for business hotels (N=321 properties), it was ¥11,701, up 53.2% from ¥7,638. Settled August had been below the prior year — city −10.0%, business −3.6% — so both the sign and the size of the YoY change flipped within a single month. The driver was the overlap of the 20th Asian Games (Aichi-Nagoya), which opened on September 19, with a five-day holiday run that began on opening day: estimated OCC (based on OTA-listed inventory) for both city and business hotels in the prefecture stayed pinned above 95% during the Games. This article decomposes the jump using YoY between settled months, then — referring to how Osaka's rates came back in the year after the Expo — sets out how to fold an event month into the following year's baseline and where to place the post-event rate floor. Scope: Aichi Prefecture city hotels N=31 properties and business hotels N=321 properties (as of September 2026). The price metric in this article is the settled ADR estimate (the contracted...

Tsuchiura Fireworks Nov 7: 99% OCC at T-45, Rain Date Nov 14 at 91%
Posted: 2026.10.23The 95th Tsuchiura All Japan Fireworks Competition (土浦全国花火競技大会) is scheduled for Saturday, November 7, 2026, with the competition starting at 5:30 p.m. and ending at 8:00 p.m.; in case of stormy weather it will be postponed to Saturday, November 14 (organizer: Tsuchiura All Japan Fireworks Competition Executive Committee; venue: the banks of the Sakura River near Gakuen-Ohashi Bridge). When the HotelBank Editorial Team checked the booking curves for Tsuchiura City (N=11 properties, 933 rooms) and Tsukuba City (N=21 properties, 1,295 rooms) as of October 21, Tsuchiura City's November 7 had already reached an estimated OCC (based on OTA-listed inventory) of 99.8% and a sold-out property rate of 90.9% at 45 days before the stay date, and even at the latest point, 18 days out, it stood at 99.5%, leaving almost no room to move. Neighboring Tsukuba City has also built up from 95.2% at 45 days out to 98.1% at the latest point, absorbing overflow demand across the city line. Meanwhile, the rain date of November 14 is running at 90.8% in Tsuchiura City and 92.0% in Tsukuba City (both at 25 days out), more than 10pt above a normal Saturday (October 31 at the same 25 days out: Tsuchiura...

Mie Sept Settled ADR: Business +19.9%, City +11.8%, Ryokan −0.1%
Posted: 2026.10.23Comparing the settled September 2026 estimated settled ADR (tax-exclusive equivalent) for hotels and ryokan in Mie Prefecture with the same month a year earlier, business hotels rose +19.9% to ¥7,633 (N=93 properties) from ¥6,365 (N=95) in September 2025, and city hotels rose +11.8% to ¥8,472 (N=17) from ¥7,575 (N=17). Ryokan, by contrast, were essentially flat (−0.1%) at ¥15,564 (N=207) versus ¥15,576 (N=202). In August all three segments had been below the prior year — Business −1.6%, City −12.0%, Ryokan −7.0% — so September is where their paths diverged. This article examines the background to that split using the September 2026 calendar (the five-day holiday from September 19 to 23) and last year's monthly shape, together with estimated OCC (based on OTA-listed inventory), and sets out benchmarks that revenue managers running properties in Mie can hold their own numbers against. Coverage: Mie Prefecture business hotels N=93, city hotels N=17, ryokan N=207 (all properties in the settled September 2026 aggregation). Price figures in this article are estimated settled ADR (the achieved-rate level estimated from OTA and other sales data, tax-exclusive equivalent); occupancy is an estimate based on OTA-listed inventory. Both are defined at the end of the article. Data as of October...

Bonenkai Season: Early-Dec Friday Hotel Rates +4–26% vs Wednesday
Posted: 2026.10.23In the first half of December 2026 — peak bonenkai (year-end party) season in Japan — Friday-night stays are currently listed at a premium of +4–26% over the Wednesday of the same week. The premium varies widely by city and hotel type: Fukuoka City business hotels carry the thickest markup at +26%, while Tokyo 23-ward city hotels and Osaka City business hotels sit at just +4%. This article covers four markets — Tokyo's 23 wards, Osaka City, Nagoya City and Fukuoka City — and 1,305 business hotels and 197 city hotels. We line up daily listed rates for the Fri/Sat pairs of Dec 4–5, 11–12 and 18–19 against the November comparison dates of Nov 6–7, 13–14 and 20–21, and check them against last year's final rates for the same weeks to see whether the "Friday lift" is unique to this year or a recurring annual pattern. Christmas week (Dec 24–27) is excluded, as we have already covered it.

Kagoshima Ohara Festival 2026: Nov 2 at 74.7% OCC vs Oct 31 98.2%
Posted: 2026.10.22Kagoshima City's 75th Ohara Festival, which closes out the city's autumn, consists of the Night Festival on Monday, November 2, 2026 and the Main Festival on Tuesday, November 3 (a national holiday), held along the tram street through Tenmonkan. Tracking the booking curves of Kagoshima City accommodation (based on listings on major booking sites; N=63–64 properties / 5,133–5,157 rooms) for the four nights from Saturday, October 31 to Tuesday, November 3 — which include both festival days — from 45 days before the stay date to the latest observation (October 19), the first night of the holiday weekend, October 31, had reached an estimated OCC of 98.2%, while November 2, the night of the Night Festival, stood at only 74.7% and November 3, the night of the Main Festival, at 57.6%. The festival's centerpiece, the sodori mass dance, takes place in Tenmonkan during the Night Festival on November 2 and the daytime Main Festival on November 3; because daytime viewing in particular is easy to complete as a day trip, the numbers show a structure that does not readily translate into overnight demand. This article compares the curves for these four nights at fixed points and sets out, for revenue...

Toyokawa Inari Gokaicho 2026: 3,219 Rooms Within 10km, ADR +52% YoY
Posted: 2026.10.21Toyokawa Inari (Myogon-ji temple, Toyokawa City, Aichi Prefecture) will hold a Gokaicho — a special unveiling of the Omaedachi statue that stands in for its hidden Buddha — from Sunday, November 1 to Monday, November 23, 2026 (a national holiday). It is the first such unveiling in 72 years; the previous one was in 1954. The temple is one of the most visited in the Tokai region, drawing roughly 5 million people a year, and preparations on the receiving side are in their final stretch: the city has repaved the roughly 350-meter main approach in a cobblestone style, and a new commercial facility has opened at the temple gate. This article takes stock of the guest-room inventory within 5km, 10km and 20km of Toyokawa Inari, then examines November's estimated settled ADR and where bookings stand (as of October 13, 2026) for the key dates of the Gokaicho period (Nov 1, 7, 14, 21 and 22).

New Year 2026-27 Hotel Rates: Tokyo −22% Dec→Jan, Peaks in 5 Cities
Posted: 2026.10.21Over the 2026-27 year-end and New Year period, government offices close from Tuesday, December 29, 2026 through Sunday, January 3, 2027; anyone who takes Monday, December 28 off gets a nine-day break starting Saturday, December 26. Looking at monthly room rates for Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, Hokkaido and Okinawa as compiled by MetroEngines Research in mid-October, Tokyo's estimated settled ADR falls 22.0%, from ¥17,500 in December 2026 (N=1,077 properties) to ¥13,700 in January 2027 (N=1,029). Against the finalized figures for the same months a year earlier, December is up 10.6% and January up 3.5%, so the year-end peak itself is being set higher than last year. Monthly averages, however, hide both the single-night spike on December 31 and the weekday trough in January leading up to Coming of Age Day. This article first pins down December and January estimated settled ADR for the five markets, both year on year and as a month-to-month step. It then plots daily listed prices by segment from December 26 to January 4 to establish whether the peak falls on New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, or December 30, the peak of the homecoming rush. Finally, using last year's finalized occupancy (Japan Tourism Agency) and daily...
