Hiroshima Meal Premiums: City Breakfast +16.8%, Half-Board Reverses
Posted: 2026.10.17We compared the meal plans that Hiroshima Prefecture hotels are selling for October 2026, restricting the sample to properties that sell both a room-only plan and a breakfast-included plan in the same hotel. On that basis, the breakfast premium is +16.8% at city hotels (N=22) and +9.5% at business hotels (N=66), a 7.3-point gap between the two hotel types. Look at the step from breakfast-included to half-board (breakfast and dinner), however, and the order flips: city hotels add +22.6% (N=13) while business hotels add +27.3% (N=21). This pattern, where the gap that opens at breakfast reverses at dinner, did not exist in May. This article layers the monthly trend, a comparison with eight neighboring prefectures, a drill-down to wards and cities such as Naka Ward in Hiroshima City, and the difference versus single occupancy, and reads them for Hiroshima operators who need to decide how to structure their meal-plan price steps. Scope: city hotels and business hotels in Hiroshima Prefecture (ryokan excluded). Meal-plan premiums are paired comparisons that count only properties selling both plans being compared within the same hotel (double occupancy, stays in October 2026); N= is the number of properties where a pair was formed. The reference price...

Saitama Business Hotels’ Sept Curve: 50.5% at T-45 to 85.8% at T-1
Posted: 2026.10.16Tracking the booking curves of Saitama business hotels for all 30 stay nights of September 2026, from 45 days before each stay date (T-45) to the day before (T-1), the median estimated OCC (based on OTA-listed inventory) rose from 50.5% at T-45 to 85.8% at T-1. The median gain per night was +33.2pt (minimum +21.9pt, maximum +41.9pt). Slightly more than half of that gain (median 52.8%) was concentrated in the final two weeks, from 14 days out to the day before; at 30 days out the median stood at 56.7%, and the per-night gain from T-45 was a mere +4.8pt (median). Day-of-week differences were large: Sunday nights started and finished low (48.8% at T-45, 73.3% at T-1), while Tuesday nights climbed from 50.2% to 90.2%. Using the 30 observed nights, this article lays out the relationship between the T-45 level and the final pick-up, and offers a yardstick for estimating where a night will land from its T-45 number and how long a hotel can hold off on tightening or loosening rates. Scope: Saitama Prefecture business hotels, N=59–66 properties (5,740–6,684 rooms; fixed cohort based on listings on major booking sites; property count varies by stay date). Occupancy figures in this...

Kumamoto Business Hotels: Review Quartiles Set the Order of Rate Hikes
Posted: 2026.10.15Looking item by item at the review-score baseline for business hotels in Kumamoto Prefecture compiled by the HotelBank Editorial Team as of October 13, 2026 (past 24 months; 21–84 properties depending on the item), "Location" has the highest mean at 4.070 and "Bathroom" the lowest at 3.590. That is a 0.48-point gap within the same prefecture and the same hotel type, and "Bathroom" also shows the widest spread between properties of all 10 items (p25 3.274 to p75 3.948). On the pricing side, the estimated settled ADR for the finalized month of September 2026 was ¥8,220 (N=122), 20.0% above the ¥6,849 (N=115) of the same month a year earlier — a shift into a rising-rate phase after February–July tracked close to the prior year at −0.9% to +2.5%. This article sets the "quartile of the rating" against the "position of the rate" and presents a three-step self-diagnosis for deciding which items to pass through into price and which items to fix before raising rates. Scope: business hotels in Kumamoto Prefecture. Review scores cover the past 24 months, N=21–84 properties depending on the item (anonymized aggregate); estimated settled ADR covers N=110–122 properties (varies by month). The price metric in this article...

Industrial-City Hotel ADR Swings 1/3 of Kyoto’s: 7 Complex Cities 2026
Posted: 2026.10.15MetroEngines Research compiled 24 months of estimated settled ADR (October 2024–September 2026) for business hotels in seven industrial cities that host petrochemical or steel complexes — Yokkaichi, Ichihara, Shunan, Oita, Sakai, Kurashiki and Kamisu. Laid out month by month, the ratio of each city's peak month to its trough month has a median of just 1.37×, far shallower than the 2.28× seen in tourism-led Kyoto (Shimogyo Ward). Cutting inventory absorption for June–September 2026 by day of week, Tuesday–Thursday occupancy exceeded Saturday in all six of the industrial cities where occupancy could be estimated, while in all three tourism cities — Kyoto, Kanazawa and Beppu — Saturday exceeded Tuesday–Thursday. This article quantifies how much stability this weekday demand, running in the opposite phase to tourism demand, brings to both rate and occupancy, and checks against primary sources the seasonality of plant turnarounds (scheduled maintenance shutdowns) that is often cited as its driver.

Kyoto Business Hotels in Sep: Sat 89.6%, Sun 82.1% — 76.1% Ex-Holiday
Posted: 2026.10.14Aggregating the September 2026 estimated OCC (based on OTA-listed inventory) of business hotels in Kyoto Prefecture (N=189–201 properties, about 19,600–20,000 rooms, as listed on major booking sites) by day of week from daily actuals gives a monthly average of 84.8%, with Saturday at 89.6% and Sunday at 82.1% — a Saturday–Sunday gap of 7.5pt. But the month included a five-day holiday run from Saturday, September 19 to Wednesday, September 23 (Autumnal Equinox Day), and within it Sunday (9/20) reached 100.0% and Monday (9/21, Respect for the Aged Day) 99.9%. Strip out those five days to recover the "underlying day-of-week shape" and Sunday falls to 76.1%, widening the gap to Saturday's 87.6% to 11.5pt. This article isolates, in numbers, the Sunday trough that the holiday-inclusive average hides, and — together with current booking progress (observations from 45 days before the stay date onward) — sets out how to bundle Saturday and Sunday inventory heading into November's autumn-foliage season. Scope: business hotels in Kyoto Prefecture, N=189–201 properties (a fixed cohort per stay date, about 19,600–20,000 rooms). City hotels, shown for reference, are N=34–37 properties, about 5,000 rooms. Occupancy in this article is an estimate based on OTA-listed inventory; the estimated transacted ADR...

Posted: 2026.10.14Hokkaido's city hotels and business hotels posted contrasting results for estimated settled ADR (tax-exclusive equivalent) in summer 2026. Comparing finalized monthly figures with the finalized figures for the same month a year earlier, city hotels (N=75) came in at ¥17,800 in July, down 5.7% YoY, and ¥17,800 in August, down 11.3% — well below the prior year in the peak months. Business hotels (N=438), by contrast, stayed above the prior year at ¥11,200 in July (+4.1%), ¥11,300 in August (+2.5%) and ¥10,800 in September (+8.9%). City hotels returned to the prior-year level in September at ¥16,500 (+0.1%), but the price gap between the two hotel types had narrowed from 1.82x a year earlier to 1.57x. This article sorts out this "summer split by hotel type" using finalized months only, and considers how each hotel type should position its prices heading into autumn and winter. Hotel Kokonoe Site: 50-Room Complex in 2029; Kanzanji ADR ¥16,000
Posted: 2026.10.13Hotel Kokonoe (ホテル九重) at Kanzanji Onsen on Lake Hamana (2178 Kanzanji-cho, Chuo Ward, Hamamatsu; opened September 6, 1987; 86 rooms) ceased operations on October 31, 2021, and the building has since been demolished. On March 28, 2025, Enshu Railway (遠州鉄道) announced a basic concept for the site: a mixed-use complex anchored by a lodging facility of about 50 rooms, together with a restaurant, cafe, spa and an open-mall-style retail component, with opening planned for spring 2029. Five years after the closure, how many properties and rooms make up the Kanzanji Onsen room stock, and where do rates stand? This article first answers directly where the site plan stands today, then uses MetroEngines Research data to examine the listing status of the 22 properties whose address contains "Kanzanji-cho" and the estimated settled ADR of the former Nishi Ward and former Naka Ward, and considers what the shift from 86 rooms to about 50 means in terms of rate bands. The focus here is on supply and pricing rather than on guidance for travelers choosing where to stay.

2027 Taiga Drama Sites: 40 Rooms Near Kurabuchi, 44 Min to Takasaki
Posted: 2026.10.13NHK's 66th Taiga drama, Gyakuzoku no Bakushin ("The Traitor Retainer," starring Tori Matsuzaka), begins airing on January 10, 2027, and its story is set in two separate places: Kurabuchi-machi in Takasaki City, Gunma, where the protagonist Tadamasa Oguri Kozukenosuke met his end, and Yokosuka City, Kanagawa, where he led the construction of an ironworks. As of October 2026, roughly three months before broadcast, MetroEngines Research data shows only 3 properties with 40 rooms listed within a 10 km radius of Gonda, Kurabuchi-machi, while the real lodging capacity — 5,804 rooms in total — is spread across Takasaki Station, Ikaho, Annaka and other clusters a 30–47 minute drive away. This article sorts out the question "stay on site, or stay at a base and commute?" by road distance, then uses monthly data to check how room rates moved in the broadcast year at locations tied to the past three Taiga dramas, and finally looks at the new supply that will arrive in time for the broadcast year.

Fukuoka Oct 24: 48.9% Sold Out at 14 Days Out, Median 1.1% Left
Posted: 2026.10.12We tallied how far lodging properties in Fukuoka Prefecture have absorbed their inventory for Saturday, October 24, 2026, as an anonymized distribution. The scope is 88 properties (7,187 rooms in total) that list at least 30% of their total rooms on OTAs and similar channels. At the latest observation, 14–15 days before the stay date, the median remaining-inventory ratio was 1.1%, and 43 properties (48.9%) were "sold out" — no listed inventory could be found on OTAs. At 30 days out the median was 10.0% with 28 properties sold out, so over those two weeks the center of the distribution shifted another step toward zero. At the same time, 13 properties (14.8%) still had more than 30% of their rooms left: even on the same night in the same prefecture, inventory is not absorbed in a single pattern. This article first checks the prefecture-wide booking curve, then uses each property's remaining inventory and sellout timing to sort properties into three broad patterns — "early sellout," "late absorption" and "inventory remaining" — and sets out what each should review. Scope: lodging properties in Fukuoka Prefecture (property-level tally N=88 properties; prefecture-wide booking curve N=429 properties / 29,269 rooms for the night of...
