APA Hotel Co., Ltd., which boasts the largest hotel network in Japan, has completed the acquisition of Hilton Seattle located in Seattle, Washington, through its wholly-owned subsidiary APA Hotel USA, Inc. The hotel will be renamed “Coast Seattle Downtown Hotel by APA” and will be leased and managed by APA Hotel USA, Inc. This hotel will be the first owned property in the United States for the APA Group.

Located about a 20-minute drive from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, this hotel is situated in the downtown Seattle area. It is within walking distance to Pike Place Market, a commercial and tourist spot, and is directly connected to the Seattle Convention Center via an underground passage. The rooms primarily consist of one king bedroom and two queen bedrooms, catering to both business and leisure guests.

After its opening, the hotel will continue operations while undergoing renovations both inside and outside, aiming for a grand opening next fall. The standard room features of Coast by APA, such as TOTO washlets and large TVs, will be introduced, and each room will be equipped with origami cranes and high-quality amenities symbolizing Japanese hospitality. Additionally, APA members will earn APA points when booking through the official Coast Hotels website.

Seattle is a major West Coast city visited by 34 million people annually and hosts the headquarters of many global IT companies. With its historical ties to Japan, including the old Japantown and cherry blossoms gifted from Japan, the hotel anticipates attracting both local and Japanese guests.

As part of its global strategy, the APA Group opened its first overseas franchise hotel in New Jersey in 2015, and the following year acquired Coast Hotels Ltd. in Canada. Coast Hotels operates a total of 43 hotels in Canada and the United States, and the acquisition of the Seattle hotel is part of this strategy. The group plans to continue strengthening its business base in North America and expanding primarily through Coast Hotels.

The APA Group operates 836 hotels with 122,734 rooms in its APA Hotel Network, including those under construction and design. Continuing the “SUMMIT5 (Top Strategy)” initiated in April 2010, the group launched a new five-year plan “AIM5 ~ APA Innovative Movement” in April 2022. By capturing changes in post-COVID-19 needs and the wave of digital transformation, the group aims to become the overwhelming No.1 hotel chain in Japan, targeting 150,000 rooms in the APA Hotel Network by the end of March 2027.
