Hotel AZ (HOTEL AZ) is a business hotel chain operated mainly across Kyushu by Amaze Co., Ltd. (株式会社アメイズ) of Oita City, and its rates follow a “same price 365 days a year” policy. The tax-inclusive rates on its official website are ¥6,380 for a single (1 guest) — ¥6,580 at the Fukuoka Kanenokuma location — and ¥10,560 for a twin (2 guests) — ¥10,960 at Kanenokuma — with a free breakfast buffet and free parking for standard-size cars (excluding some locations). When the HotelBank Editorial Team tallied the daily listed prices at three locations in Fukuoka, Kumamoto and Miyazaki for August–December 2026, the lowest listed price was the same amount every month at the Fukuoka and Kumamoto locations, and Miyazaki stayed within a ¥6,380–¥6,580 range — prices did not move on weekends or at year-end. This article walks through the measured rates, review trends, facilities that differ by location, and the kinds of trips the chain suits best.
- — ¥6,380 for a single, ¥10,560 for a twin (tax-inclusive, per room; ¥6,580 / ¥10,960 at Fukuoka Kanenokuma). The official site says the rate is the same regardless of season or day of the week.
- — In our tally, the lowest listed price for August–December 2026 was ¥6,580 throughout at Kanenokuma and ¥6,380 throughout at Koshi Kita Bypass. What changes by date is room availability, not price.
- — The breakfast buffet and standard-car parking are free (excluding some locations). A large public bath is not part of the chain-wide services.
- — Reviews average 3.74 overall (76 locations, 55,914 reviews, last 24 months). Staff (3.89), breakfast (3.83) and cleanliness (3.82) score above the average.
- — Best suited to road trips, touring Kyushu, and families of 2–3. Two adults plus one child aged 3 or older comes to roughly ¥12,320 per night.
What kind of hotel is Hotel AZ? 68 locations across Kyushu’s 7 prefectures, mostly near expressway interchanges and arterial roads
The hotel list on the official website (as of October 18, 2026) shows 68 locations across Kyushu’s seven prefectures — 23 in Fukuoka (including 4 in Kitakyushu), 11 in Kumamoto, 9 in Oita, 9 in Miyazaki, 7 in Kagoshima, 5 in Nagasaki and 4 in Saga — plus locations in Yamaguchi, Okayama, Hiroshima, Shimane, all four Shikoku prefectures, Ishikawa, Aichi, Mie, Yamanashi and Nagano, for a total of 95 (including the Shimane Yasugi location scheduled to open in January 2027 and the Kumamoto Yatsushiro Miyahara location, which is temporarily closed). The Okayama Bizen location opened on October 15, 2026, and the chain is expanding beyond Kyushu.
Many locations sit near expressway interchanges or along arterial roads — for example “about 5 minutes by car from Dazaifu IC” (Fukuoka Kanenokuma) and “about 13 minutes by car from Kita-Kumamoto Smart IC” (Kumamoto Koshi Kita Bypass). Some are usable by rail, however: the Miyazaki Sadowara location is about a 1-minute walk from JR Sadowara Station. Most locations share the same room design — 12.25 m² singles and 15.68 m² twins — and every location has an in-house restaurant, a 24-hour staffed front desk and free Wi-Fi in all rooms (all per the official website).
How much does it cost? The official year-round flat rate vs. measured listed prices
The “Services” page on the official website lists a single room at ¥5,800 (¥6,380 including tax) and states that the rate is the same “regardless of season or day of the week.” Room rates on the individual location pages (tax-inclusive, per room) are shown below. Rates differ by a few hundred yen between locations, so check the room page of the location you plan to stay at.
| Location | Single (1 guest) | Twin (2 guests) | Other room types |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fukuoka Kanenokuma | ¥6,580 | ¥10,960 | Wheelchair-accessible room: ¥8,670 (1 guest) |
| Kumamoto Koshi Kita Bypass | ¥6,380 | ¥10,560 | Double: ¥10,340 (2 guests) / Wheelchair-accessible room: ¥8,470 (1 guest), ¥10,560 (2 guests) |
| Miyazaki Sadowara | ¥6,380 | ¥10,560 | Wheelchair-accessible room: ¥8,470 (1 guest) |
| Okayama Bizen (opened October 15, 2026) | ¥6,380 | ¥10,560 | Family room (bunk beds): ¥10,560 (2 guests) |

The official site offers a “lowest price guarantee on the official website,” and a member rate ¥300 lower applies when you show the LINE digital membership card or book through the official site (official FAQ).
We tested this claim that rates “don’t move by date” against the OTA listed prices we collect. For each of the three locations, we took the lowest price across all plans (lowest listed price) and the average across all plans for every stay date from August 1 to December 31, 2026, then averaged them by month, as shown in the table below.
| Stay month (2026) | Fukuoka Kanenokuma Lowest / all-plan avg. |
Kumamoto Koshi Kita Bypass Lowest / all-plan avg. |
Miyazaki Sadowara Lowest / all-plan avg. |
|---|---|---|---|
| August | ¥6,580–¥10,960 / ¥9,678 | ¥6,380 / ¥9,845 | ¥6,380 / ¥9,542 |
| September | ¥6,580 / ¥9,595 | ¥6,380 / ¥9,832 | ¥6,580 / ¥9,512 |
| October | ¥6,580 / ¥9,356 | ¥6,380 / ¥9,830 | ¥6,580 / ¥9,678 |
| November | ¥6,580 / ¥9,678 | ¥6,380 / ¥9,789 | ¥6,580 / ¥9,706 |
| December | ¥6,580 / ¥9,598 | ¥6,380 / ¥9,789 | ¥6,580–¥10,960 / ¥9,733 |
Source: HotelBank Editorial Team research (OTA listed prices, tax-inclusive, as of October 18, 2026). The lowest listed price is the minimum across all plans listed for that stay date; at all three locations it corresponds to a single-occupancy plan. The all-plan average is a simple average of 1-guest and 2-guest plans combined. The ranges shown for Kanenokuma in August and Sadowara in December arise because on days when singles showed as sold out, the twin (2-guest) price became the minimum. Days covered: 148 at Kanenokuma, 153 at Koshi Kita Bypass, 150 at Sadowara.
The lowest listed price was ¥6,580 throughout at Kanenokuma and ¥6,380 throughout at Koshi Kita Bypass — the same amount as the official year-round rate on every day from August to December. It did not change in November, which includes a long weekend, or at year-end in December. The all-plan average at each location also stayed within a narrow ¥9,300–¥9,800 band, with a month-to-month difference of about 3% at most. What rises and falls by date is not “price” but “availability”: on popular dates, singles are the first to show as sold out.
The same logic applies when two people stay. In our tally, twin (2-guest) listed prices at Kanenokuma consisted of the official ¥10,960 (free breakfast) and a ¥13,380 plan that adds a dinner buffet, with no movement in price by stay date (the average across 174 future dates listed as of October 18, 2026 was ¥12,200). How sharply listed prices in central Fukuoka City jump on Saturdays in the same period is covered in detail in Why are Fukuoka hotels so expensive? Expensive and cheap days in November (2026) (HotelPicks, in Japanese) — which makes it clear that being able to stay at “the usual rate” on peak days is Hotel AZ’s biggest selling point.
Review trends: 3.74 overall, with “staff,” “breakfast” and “cleanliness” scoring highest
Across 55,914 guest reviews of 76 Hotel AZ group locations tallied by the HotelBank Editorial Team (last 24 months, as of October 1, 2026), the overall score is 3.74 out of 5. By category, staff (3.89), breakfast (3.83), cleanliness (3.82) and service (3.80) are above the average, meaning people and breakfast are lifting the overall rating. By location, Fukuoka Kanenokuma scores high on breakfast (3.96, N=142) and staff (4.08, N=53); Miyazaki Sadowara on breakfast (4.00, N=50), cleanliness (3.98, N=49) and location (3.94, N=66); and Kumamoto Koshi Kita Bypass on service (3.85, N=160) and breakfast (3.86, N=108) (all for the last 24 months, as of October 18, 2026).
Classifying review text by topic makes it clear that guests judge the hotel primarily on price. Of 278 reviews at Kanenokuma (last 24 months), 56 of the 57 that mentioned “worth the price” were positive, all 56 that mentioned “breakfast value” were positive, and 56 of the 63 that mentioned “parking” were positive. Among 180 reviews at Koshi Kita Bypass, 47 of 49 mentioning “worth the price” were positive, and all 24 mentioning “breakfast value” were positive. The overall score is more modest than top-tier urban hotels, but read on the premise that ¥6,380 includes breakfast and parking, the majority view is that everything you need is there.
Check breakfast, parking, restaurants and baths location by location
The official website lists seven chain-wide services: a free breakfast buffet, free standard-car parking, Wi-Fi in all rooms, an in-house restaurant, a 100-yen shop, coin laundry with automatic detergent dispensing, and permission to bring bicycles into guest rooms. However, all carry the note “excluding some locations,” and the official site explicitly states the following location-level differences.
- Breakfast: Free Japanese and Western buffet. Staples include white rice, miso soup, grilled fish, natto, bread, sausages, omelets and coffee; the menu varies by location.
- Parking: Free except at the Yamaguchi Tokuyama and Oita Beppu Ekimae locations. First come, first served, with no reservations; large vehicles and buses cost ¥2,640 per vehicle (tax-inclusive) and require an advance phone reservation. Kanenokuma has 106 spaces, Koshi Kita Bypass 90 and Sadowara 88 (per each location page).
- Restaurants: Every location has an in-house restaurant, so you can have dinner on site. The format varies by location: the buffet “Restaurant Shiko (レストラン志高),” the family restaurant “Joyfull (ジョイフル),” the shabu-shabu restaurant “Onyasai (温野菜),” the izakaya “Kamadoka (かまどか),” and the yakiniku buffet “Omatsuri Ichibankan (お祭り一番館).”
- 100-yen shop and laundry: There is no 100-yen shop at the Kumamoto Yatsushiro Miyahara, Miyazaki Shintomi, Miyazaki Takanabe, Ishikawa Awazu, Kumamoto Kashima, Mie Nabari and Aichi Gamagori locations, and no coin laundry at Mie Nabari.
- Large public bath: Not included in the chain-wide services; the in-room bathroom is the standard. If bathing facilities matter to you, check “Facilities & Services” on the location page before choosing.
A note for anyone searching for “Hotel AZ Yatsushiro”: the Kumamoto Yatsushiro Miyahara location is shown as temporarily closed on the official hotel list (as of October 18, 2026). For road trips toward Yatsushiro, the Kumamoto Ashikita location to the south and the Kumamoto Kashima and Kumamoto Interchange Goryo locations to the north offer the same rate structure. Any reopening announcement can be found in the news section of the official website.
Who it suits: road trippers, Kyushu tourers and families of 2–3
Travelers going by car. Locations near interchanges, free parking and a 24-hour front desk come together, and the rate doesn’t change even if you arrive late at night. The official room search supports “search from your current location,” and with 68 locations across Kyushu’s seven prefectures, you can decide which town to stay in based on how far you drove that day.
Travelers touring Kyushu. Even when switching locations — Fukuoka → Kumamoto → Miyazaki — singles stay within ¥6,380–¥6,580 and twins within ¥10,560–¥10,960, so you can lock in the accommodation cost for the whole itinerary before you leave. The flat rate is worth the most in periods when city prices rise on long weekends and event weekends. To cut lodging costs on a Kyushu tour even further, see our guide how to use the Kyushu Fukko Ouen-wari (Kyushu Recovery Support Discount), with 60% off in Kumamoto and Kagoshima, and how to pick the best hotels and dates.
Families of 2–3. Twins cost ¥10,560–¥10,960 for two, and locations with doubles charge ¥10,340 for two (Koshi Kita Bypass). Co-sleeping is allowed for up to one child per adult; on free-breakfast plans, children aged 3 through elementary school cost ¥1,760 (tax-inclusive) and under-3s are free (official FAQ). For two adults plus one child aged 3 or older, a twin at ¥10,560 + ¥1,760 = roughly ¥12,320 per night is a good benchmark. Some locations, such as Okayama Bizen, also have family rooms with bunk beds. Note that co-sleeping rates differ at the Kumamoto Yatsushiro Miyahara, Oita Ajimu, Kumamoto Kashima, Mie Nabari and Aichi Gamagori locations, so check the location page.
Business trips and training camps. Wi-Fi in all rooms, coin laundry and in-house restaurants are all available, and the official website promotes its large locations with 500+ rooms for sports training camps. Examples include Fukuoka Wajiro (510 rooms) and Yamaguchi Iwakuni (514 rooms) (room counts per each location’s official room page).
How it differs from other business hotel chains
Every chain has situations where it shines, so the quickest way to choose is by use case. If you want a station-front base for rail travel, Toyoko Inn (東横INN) has hotels in front of stations in every city, and its membership program pays off the more you stay (free breakfast, 5% member discount and listed prices in five major cities are covered in What is Toyoko Inn? Free breakfast, 5% member discount, a 4.07 review score and listed prices in five major cities). If you want free breakfast plus time to unwind in the large “Tabibito no Yu” public bath, Route Inn is a good fit. If you prioritize newer facilities in the center of a prefectural capital, Daiwa Roynet Hotel fits; for free breakfast in a city center, Comfort Hotel is the choice (breakfast details and listed prices in major cities are covered in What is Comfort Hotel? Free breakfast, a 4.10 review score and listed prices in major cities). Hotel AZ’s strengths are threefold — suburban, roadside locations; rates unaffected by date; and free parking — making it the best match for “a Kyushu trip by car.”

Methodology and sources
■ Data sources
The HOTEL AZ official website (https://www.hotel-az.com/) — its Services page, FAQ, hotel list and individual location room pages — plus OTA listed prices and guest reviews tallied by the HotelBank Editorial Team. Details are as follows.
- Official rates, facilities and number of locations: HOTEL AZ official website (Services, FAQ, hotel list and individual location room pages), viewed October 18, 2026. All rates are published tax-inclusive, per-room figures quoted as-is.
- Listed prices: OTA listed prices (tax-inclusive) tallied by the HotelBank Editorial Team. For Fukuoka Kanenokuma, Kumamoto Koshi Kita Bypass and Miyazaki Sadowara, we took the minimum and average across all plans listed for each stay date from August 1 to December 31, 2026, and averaged them by month (as of October 18, 2026). The lowest listed price corresponds to a single-occupancy plan; benchmarks for 2 guests are shown separately using the official twin rate and our tallied twin listed prices.
- Reviews: Guest reviews tallied by the HotelBank Editorial Team. The chain-wide figure covers 76 locations and 55,914 reviews (last 24 months, as of October 1, 2026); per-location category scores and topic classification cover the last 24 months (as of October 18, 2026). No individual review text is quoted.
- This article does not rank chains by size; the number of locations is a straight count of the official website’s list.
■ Calculation assumptions
The lowest listed price is the minimum across all plans listed for each stay date, and the all-plan average is a simple average of 1-guest and 2-guest plans combined; each was then averaged by month. The family benchmark (roughly ¥12,320) is an estimate adding the co-sleeping fee of ¥1,760 on a free-breakfast plan (ages 3 through elementary school) to the official twin rate of ¥10,560.
■ Limitations
Measured listed prices are limited to three locations — Fukuoka Kanenokuma, Kumamoto Koshi Kita Bypass and Miyazaki Sadowara; for other locations, please check the official rate display. Listed prices are as of October 18, 2026, and do not reflect subsequent rate revisions or listings removed due to full occupancy. Facilities and services vary by location, and this article reflects the official website’s content at the time it was viewed.
