Tokyo Odaiba Oedo Onsen Monogatari (東京お台場 大江戸温泉物語) closed on September 5, 2021, and is no longer in operation. Today, the places you can actually stay under the “Oedo Onsen” name are the inns of Ooedo Onsen Monogatari Group (大江戸温泉物語グループ), a nationwide hot-spring inn chain. The official facility search lists 76 properties; excluding a hot-spring theme park and a day-use spa, that leaves 74 lodging properties (as of October 24, 2026, confirmed by our editorial team). There are four brands: the standard “Ooedo Onsen Monogatari,” “Premium” with upgraded meals and a lounge, the all-inclusive “TAOYA,” and “Wanwan Resort” (わんわんリゾート), where you can stay with your dog. This article covers why the Odaiba site closed, where you can stay now, typical rates per brand for two guests per night, and how to search by region.

Oedo Onsen Monogatari in Odaiba Closed on September 5, 2021; the Site Was Returned to Tokyo
Tokyo Odaiba Oedo Onsen Monogatari was a hot-spring theme park that opened in March 2003 and closed after its final day of business on September 5, 2021. According to the operator’s announcement, the reason was that its “fixed-term business land lease agreement” with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government was due to expire in December 2021. Under the Act on Land and Building Leases in force when the agreement was signed, the lease could not be extended, and a new agreement was not reached either, so the operator was required to demolish the building, clear the site and return the land.
As of October 2026, our editorial team has found no official announcement of a new use for the site. Unconfirmed redevelopment reports are not covered in this article. Note also that “Ooedo Onsen Monogatari Urayasu Mangekyo” (大江戸温泉物語 浦安万華郷) in Chiba closed on June 2, 2024, according to the operator, so there is currently no day-use “Oedo Onsen Monogatari” in the Tokyo metropolitan area. The operating facilities that appear when you search for “Oedo Onsen” are the hot-spring inns across Japan described below.
Today’s “Oedo Onsen” Is 74 Hot-Spring Inns Nationwide: How the 4 Brands Differ and What They Cost
Ooedo Onsen Monogatari Group is a hot-spring inn chain that has been turning around and operating ryokan and hotels across Japan since 2007. Yukai Resort (湯快リゾート) inns were integrated into the brand on November 1, 2024, and in September 2025 the operating companies merged to form GENSEN HOLDINGS. The operator’s press release describes the group as “73 facilities nationwide as Ooedo Onsen Monogatari Group (as of January 2026),” and a June 2026 business briefing was reported to target 100 facilities by 2030. The name changes from Yukai Resort and the old-to-new name mapping are covered in Is Yukai Resort Gone? Now Ooedo Onsen Monogatari: 4 Brands & Rates, so we will not repeat them here. For how to find a former Yukai inn you used to visit by its name, and how booking channels were consolidated, see also Yukai Resort Is Now Ooedo Onsen Monogatari: Names, Rates, Booking.
The table below summarizes each brand’s features and typical rates for one night, two guests (one room). Rates are OTA listed prices (two guests per room, tax included, monthly average of each day’s lowest plan regardless of meal conditions), averaged per property and shown as the median and interquartile range within each brand. Coverage is stays from November 2026 to January 2027, using listed prices as of October 18, 2026 (HotelBank Editorial Team research).

Table 1: Property counts from the official facility search (as of October 24, 2026). Rates are per-property averages of OTA listed prices (two guests per room, tax included, monthly average of the lowest plan), aggregated within each brand; stays from November 2026 to January 2027, prices as of October 18, 2026; HotelBank Editorial Team research. Saturday nights and holiday periods run above the median, weekday nights below it.
For example, “Ooedo Onsen Monogatari Premium Matsunoi” (大江戸温泉物語Premium 松乃井) at Minakami Onsen, a new addition to Premium (opened August 7, 2026, 230 rooms), has its listed prices tracked by month and day of week in Ooedo Onsen Monogatari Premium Matsunoi: Rates and Review Trends [2026] (in Japanese), which shows that weekday stays in December and February are the best value. Premium properties vary considerably by season and day of week, so once you have picked a property, checking its monthly prices before fixing your dates is the quickest route.
Rates at the 14 TAOYA Inns: All-Inclusive from ¥33,000 to ¥48,000 per Night for Two
TAOYA is an all-inclusive inn brand where, according to its official website, “the room rate largely includes alcohol at dinner, drinks in the lounge, and the use of in-house services.” For the 14 properties listed on the official site, the monthly average of the lowest listed plan price (two guests per room, tax included) over the past 12 months (stays from November 2025 to October 2026) ranges from about ¥33,000 at TAOYA Shirahama Senjo to about ¥48,000 at TAOYA Nikko Kirifuri, i.e. a band of ¥33,000–¥48,000 per night for two. The average across all plans is ¥56,000–¥72,000, the band you reach when choosing options such as rooms with a private open-air bath.
Chart 1: Monthly average of the lowest listed plan price (two guests per room, tax included) at 14 TAOYA properties, averaged over stays from November 2025 to October 2026. TAOYA Atami covers 7 months, including 3 months before its July 2026 rebrand (formerly Hotel Suiyotei); TAOYA Aso covers 4 months after its July 2026 opening. As of October 18, 2026; HotelBank Editorial Team research.
Of the 14 properties, the highest-rated by guests is TAOYA Kisoji (Nagano, Nagiso Onsen), with an overall score of 4.329 (6,781 reviews, past 24 months, HotelBank Editorial Team research). Guest comments frequently praise the spring water and the lounge and food, with phrases such as “I wanted to soak in the silky hot spring,” “the illuminated baths are especially recommended,” “the drinks in the lounge, including alcohol, were the best,” and “dinner had a great variety” (1,405 reviews tag-analyzed, November 2024 to October 2026). The official website likewise highlights “hot spring water that feels like lotion on the skin” and afternoon tea in the fireplace lounge.
Reviews Rate Breakfast, Meals and Bathrooms Highest
Across 271,847 guest reviews of 61 Ooedo Onsen Monogatari Group properties compiled by the HotelBank Editorial Team (past 24 months, as of October 2026), the overall average is 3.947. By category, breakfast (4.087), meals (4.06), bathroom (4.03) and staff (4.017) score highest — a distribution that matches the chain’s “buffet and hot springs” positioning. The number of properties differs by category: 58 for breakfast, meals and bathroom, 59 for staff, 61 for service and 60 for cleanliness.
Chart 2: Category averages (out of 5) for 61 Ooedo Onsen Monogatari Group properties and 271,847 reviews (past 24 months, as of October 2026); top 6 of 10 categories. HotelBank Editorial Team research.
Meals at both Standard and Premium are buffet-based; Premium upgrades the dinner and breakfast menus and adds lounge drinks. The hot springs score well because many of the inns were taken over from long-established ryokan and hotels around Japan, and their source springs and open-air baths have been kept as they were. The business side of these turnarounds — namely, how far average rates have risen since the integration with Yukai Resort — has been examined separately by our editorial team. When choosing an inn, first decide how much you want from meals and the lounge to pick between Standard, Premium and TAOYA, then narrow down by the region you want to visit.

Table 2: Of the 76 facilities on the official facility search (as of October 24, 2026), our editorial team counted by region the 74 lodging properties, excluding the hot-spring theme park “NEW Reoma World” (Kagawa) and the day-use spa “Minoo Onsen Spa Garden” (Osaka).
If you are driving from the Tokyo area, Tochigi (Shiobara, Kinugawa, Kawaji and Nikko) has 7 properties covering all four brands — Standard, Premium, TAOYA and Wanwan — making it an easy region for comparison (for who is turning around the large ryokan in Kinugawa and Kawaji Onsen, see Kinugawa-Kawaji Onsen: 3,574 Rooms, 60.8% in 14 Large Ryokan Hotels). From the Kansai area, the 5 properties in Wakayama (Shirahama, Nachikatsuura and Kushimoto) are candidates; from Nagoya, Gifu (Gero and Enakyo) and Mie (Shima, Toba and Ise-Shima). In Hokuriku, properties are concentrated in the Kaga Onsen area (Yamashiro, Yamanaka, Katayamazu and Awazu) and Wakura, so you can plan a hot-spring tour staying at a different brand on each night.
If you are traveling with children, whether a kids’ corner or baby supplies are available differs by property. Some inns, such as Premium Hotel New Shiobara, have a kids’ corner of over 200 m². Co-sleeping categories and the cheapest months and days of the week are laid out using official information and price data in Is Hotel New Shiobara Good for Families? Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Will Oedo Onsen Monogatari in Odaiba reopen?
A. As of October 2026, we have found no announcement from the operator indicating a reopening in Tokyo Odaiba or a new location in Tokyo. The closure was due to the expiry of the fixed-term business land lease with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government (December 2021), under which the building was to be demolished and the land returned. For inns close to the Tokyo area, 11 properties operate in Kanto (Tochigi 7, Gunma 2, Chiba 1, Kanagawa 1).
Q. What is the difference between Ooedo Onsen Monogatari and TAOYA?
A. Both are hot-spring inns in the same group, but TAOYA is an “all-inclusive” inn where alcohol at dinner, lounge drinks, late-night snacks and other in-house services are largely included in the room rate. The standard Ooedo Onsen Monogatari offers affordable buffet dining and hot springs. Their price bands also differ: for stays from November 2026 to January 2027, the median lowest listed plan price (two guests per room, tax included) is about ¥24,000 for Standard and about ¥43,000 for TAOYA.
Q. How are child rates and co-sleeping handled?
A. Child-rate categories are shown on each property’s official booking page, by property and plan. As one example, the official booking page for Premium Hotel New Shiobara uses three categories — “elementary school children,” “age 3 to pre-elementary (with futon and meals)” and “under 3 (no futon or meals)” — with children aged 3 and over charged, and ¥2,200 for adding a futon for a child under 3 (as of October 2026). Please check the latest categories on the official booking page of the property you plan to stay at.
Methodology and Sources
■ Data Sources
The Ooedo Onsen Monogatari Group official facility search and each property’s official page (as of October 24, 2026), the operator’s press releases and closure notices, and OTA listed prices and guest reviews compiled by the HotelBank Editorial Team.
■ Calculation Assumptions
Rates take each day’s lowest plan (two guests per room, tax included, regardless of meal conditions), averaged by month and then by property, from which the median and interquartile range within each brand are calculated. Table 1 covers stays from November 2026 to January 2027 and Chart 1 covers stays from November 2025 to October 2026, both using listed prices as of October 18, 2026. Reviews are averages on a 5-point scale over the past 24 months.
■ Limitations
Listed prices are the selling prices shown on booking sites; the amount actually paid varies by plan, day of week, number of guests and availability. Properties that recently opened or rebranded have fewer months of data (TAOYA Atami 7 months, TAOYA Aso 4 months), and rates could be compiled for only 5 Wanwan Resort properties. Property counts are based on the official site listings, so temporarily closed or renovating properties are treated as shown officially.
- Property counts, brands and regions: compiled by our editorial team from the Ooedo Onsen Monogatari Group official facility search (as of October 24, 2026). The 74 lodging properties exclude NEW Reoma World and Minoo Onsen Spa Garden. The group-wide figure of “73 facilities nationwide (as of January 2026)” is from a GENSEN HOLDINGS Co., Ltd. press release (January 9, 2026); the target of 100 facilities by 2030 is from press coverage of a business briefing on June 11, 2026.
- Odaiba and Urayasu closures: based on the operator’s announcements (June 2021 and 2024). Closure date September 5, 2021; fixed-term business land lease expiry December 2021; opening March 2003.
- Rates: OTA listed prices (two guests per room, tax included; monthly average of each day’s lowest plan regardless of meal conditions, and average across all plans). Table 1 covers stays from November 2026 to January 2027 and Chart 1 covers stays from November 2025 to October 2026, both compiled by the HotelBank Editorial Team from listed prices as of October 18, 2026. Actual amounts paid vary by plan, day of week and number of guests.
- Reviews: guest reviews compiled by the HotelBank Editorial Team (61 Ooedo Onsen Monogatari Group properties, 271,847 reviews, past 24 months, as of October 2026). Quotes are partial, and reviewer attributes are not shown.
- All-inclusive contents, shuttle services and children’s amenities: each property’s official website (as of October 24, 2026).
