HotelME Kyushu Fukko-Wari Search Expands: 1–5 Adults, 31-Day Dates

Posted: 2026.10.24

HotelME, the hotel search app for ChatGPT provided by MetroEngines Inc. (メトロエンジン株式会社), has been expanding its search features for the Kyushu Fukko Ouenwari travel discount (九州ふっこう応援割; “Fukko-wari” below) step by step since it was first introduced on Thursday, October 22, 2026. This article organizes the improvements made since then along the lines of how travelers actually use it. Covering everything from solo trips to groups of four or five friends, comparing across multiple prefectures and a range of candidate dates, how to read post-discount prices and the steps needed to receive the discount, through to final confirmation on the official booking site, it walks through what could be confirmed as of October 24. Note that this article is MetroEngines introducing its own service, not a third-party evaluation.

About the Data in This Article
• This is a feature explainer and does not cover market statistics such as room rates or occupancy. The features and conditions described are as of October 24, 2026, and are limited to what could be confirmed on the official HotelME page, the HotelME listing on ChatGPT, and actual conversation tests run by the editorial team.
• The sample questions in the text show how to phrase a request; they do not indicate actual vacancies, prices or eligibility for the discount. Dates are also examples.
• Details of the Fukko-wari program are based on official information from the Japan Tourism Agency and each prefecture. Acceptance status changes by prefecture and by sales channel, so check each prefecture’s official page before use.
Key Takeaways
  • — Eligible plans for 1–5 adults, 1 room, 1 night are shown at the rate actually confirmed for each party size. Two-person rates are not halved. Amounts are the total for one room, one night and the specified number of guests (consumption tax included; accommodation tax etc. extra)
  • — Multiple prefectures and up to 31 days of candidate dates are supported. “One night sometime between the 12th and 14th” is treated not as a multi-night stay but as one-night candidates checking in on each of those days
  • — Two kinds of post-discount price — “the amount shown on the official site” and “a calculated estimate” (rounding can make it up to ¥99 higher). Where it can be confirmed, it also explains the procedure: discount at the property, coupon, STAYNAVI or later refund
  • — A prefecture’s budget running out or dates outside the program period are reported separately from a property’s sales status. Zero results does not mean fully booked. Where supported, the date, party size and eligible plan carry over to the linked booking page
  • — No booking or payment. The premise that the final price, vacancy, discount conditions, payment method and cancellation terms are confirmed on the official booking site is unchanged. Short answers still sometimes omit the procedure explanation

What Changed Since October 22 — Key Points

The first introductory article (HotelME Finds Kyushu Fukko Ouenwari Plans on Hotel Sites via ChatGPT) described the core function: guiding users to eligible plans found on hotels’ official booking sites, along with official booking links. The follow-up how-to article explained that eligible plans may remain on official sites even after acceptance has closed on booking sites, and introduced the three-step operation. This article covers the improvements added since then on “how to state your conditions”, “how to read the results” and “guidance on how to receive the discount”.

To list the changes up front, they fall into six points. First, on supported ChatGPT screens, region, dates and number of adults can now be confirmed through a selection form, with support for choosing multiple prefectures and narrowing down by municipality. Second, when a user asks for a multi-night stay, multiple rooms or travel with children, it now adjusts to a reference search for adults only, 1 room, 1 night, and states clearly how this differs from the original request. Third, post-discount prices are shown separately as “the amount shown on the official site” and “a calculated estimate”, and the procedure for receiving the discount (discount at the property, coupon, STAYNAVI, later refund) is explained where it can be confirmed. Fourth, among the official hotel booking links found, booking sites that support it receive the date, party size and eligible plan. Fifth, a prefecture’s budget running out or the program not applying is communicated separately from the property’s sales status. Sixth, candidates are ordered using aggregated review data, so the top of the list is no longer filled with different dates at the same hotel.

None of this is at the stage where one can say “the improvements are complete”. There are still cases where condensed conversational answers omit required procedure explanations. For that reason, this article notes caveats alongside each feature and keeps to the premise that final confirmation happens on the official booking site.

From Solo Trips to Trips With Friends — Rates for 1–5 Adults Use Amounts Confirmed per Party Size

The dedicated Fukko-wari search covers plans for 1–5 adults, 1 room, 1 night. The key point is that the rate for each party size is the rate actually confirmed for that number of guests. It does not halve a two-person rate and treat it as a one-person rate, or double a two-person rate and treat it as a four-person rate. For solo travelers, this means only hotels where a single-occupancy eligible plan was confirmed on the official site appear as candidates; the same logic applies to trips with four or five friends.

It is also worth checking the unit. The amount HotelME shows is “the total for one room, one night and the specified number of adults”, not a per-person price. Consumption tax is included, but accommodation tax and bathing tax are not. Dividing an amount shown for four adults by four gives a per-person estimate, but the reverse — misreading the displayed amount as per person — leads to a large error. HotelME does not check child rates, vacancy or totals for the whole family, or totals for an entire multi-night stay or multiple rooms.

According to the Japan Tourism Agency, the Fukko-wari discount cap is set per trip, per person (¥20,000 for accommodation only). Because HotelME shows amounts as the total for the party, to judge whether the cap applies you need to look at the per-person discount, i.e. the total divided by the number of guests. This also bears on how to read the “calculated estimate” discussed below.

Multiple Prefectures, a Range of Dates, Undecided Plans — More Flexible Ways to State Conditions

On supported ChatGPT screens, region, dates and any missing number of adults can now be confirmed through a selection form. The form has no children field, no consent checkbox for “0 children” and no room-count input; it has been simplified to match the conditions of the Fukko-wari search (adults only, 1 room). Screen and form display varies with the ChatGPT environment, however, so the same screen will not necessarily appear on every device. Even if the form does not appear, the search proceeds if you state the prefecture, dates and party size in conversation.

For regions, multiple prefectures can now be selected together, and narrowing down by municipality is supported where it can be confirmed. For example, saying “Miyazaki or Kagoshima” searches both prefectures for candidates, and saying “within Kumamoto City” narrows by municipality. The requested area carries over within the conversation, and other prefectures are not silently mixed into the candidates.

For dates, candidate check-in dates can be compared over a span of up to 31 days. If you say “one night sometime between November 12 and 14”, this is treated not as a three-night stay but as one-night candidates checking in on the 12th, 13th and 14th respectively. It is a way of using the search that makes candidates easier to find for trips not tied to weekends or when your days off are flexible.

It also works when neither destination nor dates are decided. If you say “I want to use the Kyushu Fukko-wari but haven’t decided where or when yet”, it asks in turn for the conditions needed for the search. The seven covered prefectures are Fukuoka, Saga, Nagasaki, Kumamoto, Oita, Miyazaki and Kagoshima, but this does not mean every property and every date is covered, nor that all seven prefectures are currently accepting applications.

Sample questions (dates are examples; no guarantee of candidates or discount eligibility)

Table 2: Sample questions for HotelME (dates are examples; no guarantee of candidates or discount eligibility)
A. Solo trip, dates fixed“@HotelME Kumamoto, check in November 12, 2026, check out the 13th, 1 adult, 1 room. Show me Fukko-wari eligible plans with the post-discount price and procedure you could confirm, plus the official booking link.”
B. Multiple prefectures, flexible dates, 4 people“@HotelME Miyazaki or Kagoshima, one night sometime between November 13 and 15, 2026, 4 adults, 1 room. I’d like to compare candidates.”
C. Destination and dates undecided“@HotelME I want to use the Kyushu Fukko-wari. I haven’t decided where or when yet, so start by checking the conditions you need.”
D. Checking the procedure (follow-up question)“Do the candidates you just showed need a coupon or STAYNAVI procedure? Also tell me whether payment is on site or by later refund.”
E. Comparing with existing features / review trends“Compare these two hotels on breakfast review trends. I want the characteristics you can tell from the aggregates, not individual review texts.”

Specifying “@HotelME” works on supported screens. Selecting the app first and then typing your question works the same way.

How Multi-Night Stays, Multiple Rooms and Travel With Children Are Handled

The dedicated Fukko-wari search requires adults only, 1 room, 1 night, but users often want two nights, two rooms or to travel with children. What could be confirmed in the improved behavior is that, when such a request is made, it does not arbitrarily reduce the total number of adults; it adjusts to a reference search for adults only, 1 room, 1 night, and states in the answer how this differs from the original request. For example, if you say “2 adults and 1 child for 2 nights”, it shows candidates after noting that it “adjusted to a reference search for 2 adults, 1 room, 1 night”.

What must not be misunderstood is that the adjusted candidates have not been checked for vacancy or prices for a party including children or for the whole itinerary. Whether there is a child rate, vacancy on the second night and availability of a second room need to be confirmed on the official booking site. HotelME also does not create room allocations on its own. The correct way to use it is to take the results as “leads on hotels with eligible plans for adults only, 1 room, 1 night”.

The Two Post-Discount Price Displays and the Procedure for Receiving the Discount

How to read post-discount prices is the part of this update that deserves the most careful reading. HotelME shows post-discount amounts split into “post-discount (amount shown on official site)” and “post-discount (calculated estimate)”. The former relays as-is the amount the hotel’s official site displays as the post-discount price; the latter is an estimate calculated by the system by applying the confirmed prefecture’s discount rate and cap to the eligible plan’s pre-discount displayed price. ChatGPT does not freely compute and fill in discounts within the conversation; the discount rate and cap are applied by a predetermined procedure.

Calculated values are subject to rounding differences. Due to the property’s rounding, the actual post-discount amount may be up to ¥99 higher than the estimate. In addition, it does not guess post-discount prices for conditional plans such as members-only plans, or for candidates whose price could not be confirmed. Nor does it emphasize the difference as a promise such as “save ¥X”. The difference between pre- and post-discount prices is an estimate premised on the program applying; whether it applies is decided by the booking site.

Procedures fall broadly into four types. Where it can be confirmed, HotelME explains which procedure applies to each candidate.

Table 3: Types of discount procedure and what to check
Type of procedureHow the amount you pay worksWhat the user should check
Discount at the propertyPay the post-discount amount at booking or on siteWhether you selected an eligible plan; whether ID is required
Coupon / code entryWithout the procedure, the pre-discount amount appliesWhere to obtain the coupon, when to enter it, limit on number of coupons

As a caveat, even as of October 24 there are still cases where required procedure explanations drop out of condensed conversational answers. Once you receive candidates, the sure way is to follow up as in sample question D and ask “which procedure does this candidate require?”. Ultimately, confirm the procedure and payment method in the booking site’s own instructions.

Final Confirmation on the Official Booking Site — HotelME Does Not Book or Take Payment

HotelME’s role ends at guiding you to the official hotel booking links it has found; it does not handle booking, payment, changes or cancellations. As an improvement, booking sites that support it now receive the date, party size and eligible plan via the link. That said, not every booking site supports this hand-off, and some require you to re-select the date, party size and plan. When you open a link, make a habit of first checking that the conditions shown match what you want.

There are six items to confirm on the booking site: final price, current vacancy, discount eligibility conditions, membership conditions, payment method and cancellation terms. HotelME’s information is as of the time it was checked and does not guarantee current vacancy, discount eligibility or that a booking will be completed.

It is also important to understand the relationship with acceptance status on booking sites accurately. The correct way to put it is: “Even if acceptance has closed on a booking site, the acceptance status for booking directly with the hotel may differ by sales channel.” It does not mean acceptance has ended on every booking site, nor that the official site is sure to have vacancy or the discount, nor does it promise that the discount can be secured. Because allocations and budget consumption differ by channel, it is worth checking the official site — that is the right way to frame it.

Reporting “Budget Exhausted”, “Not Eligible”, “Fully Booked” and “Not Found” Separately

The Fukko-wari is a program with a budget set for each prefecture that ends once the budget runs out. Acceptance status changes by prefecture and sales channel, and there have been cases where a prefecture that suspended acceptance later resumed. HotelME’s improvement is that it now communicates program-side states — “prefecture budget exhausted”, “application window” and “stay date outside the program period” — separately from “the sales status of the property or eligible plan”.

Specifically, for stay dates where the prefecture’s budget is confirmed to be exhausted, it does not show a post-discount price; it prioritizes the prefecture’s official information and explains that you can look for a stay at the regular rate. Acceptance may resume, but HotelME makes no promise of that. Likewise, for stay dates outside the program period, it can guide you to a regular-rate search. Note, however, that the regular rate search runs on a different party-size condition — 2 adults, 1 room, no children — so its conditions differ from the 1–5 guests of the Fukko-wari search.

On the property side, too, “no sales of eligible plans found”, “price could not be confirmed” and “fully booked” are treated as different states. A result of zero is never asserted to mean fully booked. Readers, too, should not take a lack of candidates as “it was full”; the appropriate response is to widen the date range or check each channel’s status in the prefecture’s official information.

Each prefecture’s program ends once its budget runs out, so check acceptance status in each prefecture’s official information

The table above shows the program framework, not whether each prefecture is currently accepting applications. Even in the October 24 check, suspensions and resumptions were alternating by prefecture and channel, and the only way to know the status when you read this is each prefecture’s official information. How the cap works, and how it changes for multi-night and circuit-type trips, is covered in Kyushu Subsidy ¥30k/¥35k Caps: 2 Nights Cap Out Per Contract; Tours 1.5x, and the movement of prefectural channels as of mid-October in Kyushu Fukko Ouenwari Still Open? Order of Candidates — A Reference Order Based on Aggregated Reviews

The readability of search results has also been reworked. Candidates are now ordered using aggregated review data, fixing displays where different dates at the same hotel filled the top of the list. Giving candidate dates a 31-day span tended to list the same hotel many times on different dates; after the improvement, the range of hotels is easier to see.

This order is not a “popularity ranking”, a “star-rating ranking” or “cheapest first”. It is a reference order based on aggregates of review counts and content, and being near the top does not guarantee that a booking will be completed or that it fits the user’s conditions. It is best to use the order as a lead and judge fit with your conditions from the details of each candidate.

Existing Features Usable Beyond the Fukko-wari — Comparisons and Review Trends

HotelME’s Fukko-wari search sits on top of its existing hotel search features. Not everything was newly built after October 22; the following features have been offered all along.

Table 5: Existing features usable beyond the Fukko-wari
FeatureDescriptionConditions / notes
Hotel search in JapanFind candidates by location and review trends by themeDoes not cover every property
Compare up to 3 propertiesLine up candidates and check the differences—
Reference rates by dateCompare rates as of the time checked, by date2 adults, 1 room, no children, 1–14 nights. Conditions differ from the 1–5 guests of the Fukko-wari search. Rate comparisons for 1 or 3–5 guests in the regular search are not supported in all cases
Review trendsExplains strengths and concerns such as breakfast, food, rooms and service from aggregated themesDoes not show individual review texts or reviewer information. Explanations only to the extent supported by aggregated themes

A note on reviews. HotelME is not a service that provides raw reviews. If, as in sample question E, you say “I want the characteristics you can tell from the aggregates, not individual review texts”, it explains strengths and concerns for each theme, such as breakfast or service, based on the aggregates. It does not reproduce individual posts or reviewers’ attributes.

On the other hand, items such as the map screen, hiking distances, walking time from the station, ryokan classification and whether pets are allowed are not, as of this check, at a stage where strict accuracy can be claimed. Such conditions should be taken as leads on candidates and confirmed on the official page.

What It Means for Accommodation Operators — Tidying Up the Path to the Official Booking Site

A brief word from the operator’s perspective as well. What HotelME guides users to is eligible plans found on the hotel’s official booking site and the official booking link to them. So the more clearly the official site lists its Fukko-wari eligible plans — with plan names, conditions, the discount procedure (discount at the property, coupon or STAYNAVI, or later refund) and payment method spelled out — the more likely it is to be guided to accurately in conversation. If the booking system supports carrying over the date, party size and plan, users also save the effort of re-selecting.

However, effects such as increased room revenue or changes in conversion rate have not been measured as of this article. What can be said here is limited to the path itself: “the better organized the official site’s information, the more easily it is referenced in conversation”. Since program acceptance and discount funding are determined by each prefecture and channel, listing on the official site alone does not guarantee that the discount can be secured.

How to Use, What Is Free and Where to Ask

HotelME is used by connecting it in ChatGPT and choosing the app within a conversation. On supported screens you can select it by typing “@HotelME”. Shortly after 8 a.m. on October 24, the listing information was updated (version 1.0.1); the new listing screen on ChatGPT shows descriptions in both English and Japanese, and a Fukko-wari example is placed at the top of the sample questions. “Both languages” means the description is published in two languages, not that it switches automatically based on the user’s language. The first sample question listed is: “I want to find accommodation where the Kyushu Fukko-wari can be used. Check my dates and area, and tell me the vacancies for eligible plans and the booking links on the hotels’ official sites.”

Note that the update date of the listing description and the launch dates of individual features are different. Not all features were implemented at once in version 1.0.1; the improvements described in this article have been rolled out step by step since October 22. Part of the listing text still contains the earlier description of the regular rate search, so please cross-check the Fukko-wari conditions against the official page and this article.

It is free to use, and no MetroEngines membership registration is required. However, ChatGPT’s supported plans, regions and terms of use follow the provider’s own guidance, so it cannot be asserted that it works unconditionally on every account or device. ChatGPT is a service of OpenAI, and HotelME does not indicate approval by or partnership with OpenAI. HotelME is also neither the organizer nor a sales channel of the Kyushu Fukko Ouenwari.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Can I search for Fukko-wari eligible plans for a solo trip?
Yes. It covers 1–5 adults, 1 room, 1 night, and single-occupancy rates are the amounts actually confirmed for that party size. They are not converted by halving a two-person rate.

Q. What happens if I want to stay two nights?
It adjusts to a reference search for adults only, 1 room, 1 night, and states in the answer how this differs from your original request. HotelME does not check vacancy on the second night or the price of the whole stay, so please confirm on the official booking site.

Q. Is the “post-discount (calculated estimate)” the amount I will actually pay?
It is an estimate. Due to the property’s rounding it may be up to ¥99 higher, and if you do not complete the coupon or STAYNAVI procedure, the pre-discount amount applies. For later refunds, you pay the pre-discount amount, and your cost after the refund corresponds to the estimate.

Q. I got zero candidates. Does that mean everything is fully booked?
Not necessarily. There are other reasons, such as no sales of eligible plans found, prices that could not be confirmed, the prefecture’s budget being exhausted, or dates outside the program period. Widen the date range or check each channel’s status in the prefecture’s official information.

Q. Is there a fee?
HotelME is free to use, and no MetroEngines membership registration is required. ChatGPT’s supported plans and terms of use follow the provider’s own guidance.

Summary

HotelME’s improvements since October 22 lean less toward adding new features and more toward care in “how conditions are received and how results are conveyed”. Rates by party size from solo travel up to 5 adults, comparison across multiple prefectures and up to 31 days of candidate dates, explicit notice of adjustments for multi-night or family requests, two kinds of post-discount price with procedure guidance, separating the program’s state in each prefecture from a property’s sales status, and an order based on aggregated reviews — all of these can be described as refinements to make results harder for travelers to misread.

At the same time, the improvements are still in progress, with short answers sometimes still omitting the procedure explanation. What HotelME provides are leads as of the time checked; the premise that the final price, current vacancy, discount eligibility conditions, membership conditions, payment method and cancellation terms are confirmed on the official booking site is unchanged. Fukko-wari acceptance status moves by prefecture and channel, so use it together with each prefecture’s official information.
