Hotel Mikazuki Co., Ltd. and Corelex Shinei Co., Ltd. have jointly launched a recycling demonstration project aimed at promoting resource circulation of paper waste generated from hotels.
The project is being implemented mainly at Hotel Mikazuki Fujimitei, where paper waste and used paper towels generated in guest rooms are collected, dissolved, and recycled using Corelex’s recycled paper manufacturing technology.
The recycled toilet paper will be reused across Hotel Mikazuki Group properties, with the goal of establishing a system that enables the circulation of paper resources within the hotels.

Hotel Mikazuki announced its Sustainable Resort Development Plan in April 2024, with the aim of realizing a “resource-circulating hotel” that creates new resources through self-consumption and reuse.
As part of this initiative, the current project seeks to recycle paper waste generated during hotel operations into new resources.
Meanwhile, Corelex Shinei, as a leading company in recycled paper technology, has built a circular system that reproduces used paper resources into high-quality household paper.
This demonstration project represents a new regional initiative toward realizing a circular economy through collaboration between the tourism and paper manufacturing industries.

This initiative marks the first resource circulation project for Hotel Mikazuki.
By returning incinerated or discarded paper waste back to the hotel as “resources,” the company aims to simultaneously reduce waste volume and curb CO₂ emissions.
The paper waste collected at Fujimitei will be recycled into toilet paper using Corelex’s technology and reused across Hotel Mikazuki Group facilities.
For Corelex, this also marks its first collaboration with a resort hotel in the Kanto region.

Starting with this demonstration, the two companies plan to expand the scope of recyclable paper materials and consider introducing the system across all facilities.
Hotel Mikazuki aims to realize a “Sustainable Resort,” while Corelex promotes its “CORELEX CIRCULAR” initiative.
By leveraging their respective technologies and expertise, they strive to build a sustainable, resource-circulating society.
Through the collaboration between the tourism and paper manufacturing industries, the project presents a new model that balances effective use of regional resources with environmental impact reduction.
