In October 2022, Tokyu Corporation, Niseko Tokyu Resort Co., Ltd., and Tokyu Resorts & Stay Co., Ltd. signed a comprehensive partnership agreement with Kutchan Town to form an all-season international resort. Based on this agreement, the companies announced the second summer opening of “NISEKO HIRAFU GREEN PARK” and other summer activities starting on Saturday, July 13th. Niseko is known for attracting many tourists during the winter ski season, but efforts are being made to rediscover the region’s charm during the summer “Green Season,” aiming to attract many tourists from both domestic and international sources.

The “NISEKO HIRAFU GREEN PARK” executive committee was formed by Tokyu Corporation, Niseko Tokyu Resort, Tokyu Resorts & Stay, Kutchan Town, the Kutchan Tourism Association, the Niseko Promotion Board, the Niseko Hirafu Area Management Association, and a local joint venture company called Commons. This space is designed for both local residents and guests to enjoy together. This year’s theme is “Another Peak Season: Enjoying Summer in NISEKO HIRAFU,” offering a space filled with food, retail, and activities.

From Friday, August 9th to Thursday, August 15th, a cinema week will be held in collaboration with “CINEMA CARAVAN,” a creator collective that operates a mobile outdoor cinema. This event will focus on the overseas communities, sports culture, and natural environment that have influenced Niseko. During the day, there will be themed food and retail and experiential content, while after sunset, guests can enjoy films.

At Niseko Tokyu Grand Hirafu, new content includes the opening of a summer gondola and a mountain bike park utilizing the ski slopes. The summer gondola offers an approximately 7.5-minute aerial ride to the top station while enjoying views of Mount Yotei. At the summit, there are walking trails, viewing spaces, and various free activities, and guests can enjoy these with their pets. The mountain bike park features a variety of courses suitable for beginners to advanced riders, and there are plans to connect with downhill courses in the future, creating an attractive lineup of courses.

Tokyu Corporation is advancing the “Value up NISEKO 2030” project, aiming for sustainable development by 2030 and striving to make “NISEKO” a continuously chosen destination. As part of this project, in October 2022, Tokyu signed a comprehensive partnership agreement with Kutchan Town to form an all-season international resort to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Kutchan Town’s declaration as a ski town, strengthening regional cooperation. Initiatives on the software side include revitalizing the Green Season, conducting Japan’s first ski NFT “Niseko Powder Token 2.0” pilot experiment, a social implementation experiment for power generation using snow, and a test operation of a ski valet service. Several initiatives will continue to be promoted in the future, aiming for the sustainable development of the region.
