The F&B Masters aims to discover and award talents in a wide range of fields, from cooking to barista skills. This year saw participation from Japan, Korea, and, for the first time, Micronesia (Guam), with a record number of 119 masters from 24 hotels competing in six categories.

In the cooking category, Hiroyasu Kawate of Florilège and in the pastry category, Sadaharu Aoki of Patisserie Sadaharu Aoki Paris, among other notable experts in various fields, were welcomed as guest judges, ensuring a rigorous evaluation. The winners of each category were awarded overseas culinary experiences and prizes, recognizing their talent and effort highly.

Particularly noteworthy was Naoto Tajima of Hilton Odawara Resort & Spa, who won in the cooking category. Having finished second in the last competition, Tajima expressed his joy at winning this time and spoke of his future goal to challenge for the position of executive chef within the Hilton Group.

Timothy Soper, the representative for Hilton in Japan, Korea, & Micronesia, positioned this competition as an opportunity to showcase team members’ talents and to enhance loyalty by providing high-quality food and beverage experiences to customers, emphasizing that exceptional food and beverage services are key to the company’s global business success.

Hilton has also been focusing on building a superior corporate culture, as evidenced by being selected as the “Best Global Company to Work For” for the first time last year. This includes offering opportunities for personal development and providing a flexible work environment among other multifaceted initiatives.

The hosting of the F&B Masters 2024 represents a significant opportunity for the discovery and evaluation of excellence and talent, as well as a chance for team members to refine their skills and grow. Hilton plans to continue focusing on improving the quality of food and beverage services while also prioritizing the development and welfare of team members.
