Sun Members Kyoto Saga, operated by Resorttrust, Inc., has been recognized as an “Excellent Business Operator for Kyoto Tourism Morality” for the fiscal year 2024. This award is based on the “Kyoto Tourism Morality” established by Kyoto City and the Kyoto City Tourism Association, and honors businesses that implement outstanding initiatives aimed at realizing sustainable tourism through harmony with the local community, cultural preservation, and environmental conservation. Sun Members Kyoto Saga has received this award for the second consecutive year.

Kyoto Tourism Morality refers to the code of conduct compiled by Kyoto City and the Kyoto City Tourism Association, aimed at building sustainable tourism in Kyoto through mutual respect among all those involved in tourism. The code emphasizes contributing to local culture and community, harmonizing tourism with citizens’ lives, providing high-quality services and products, nurturing human resources, conserving the environment and scenery, and achieving tourism resilient to disasters and infectious diseases. Businesses that serve as exemplary models in all these areas are selected for the award, which aims to promote the dissemination and practice of Kyoto Tourism Morality.

The hotel pursues a model of tourism that co-creates with the local community and offers an experiential program called “Sustainable Koto Experience,” incorporating traditional industries of the region. Initiatives thus far include the revitalization of the Sagano bamboo grove, rice planting experiences in abandoned farmland, the development of breakfast menus featuring Kongo Sagamai rice, and arranging tours of sake breweries within Kyoto City, thereby promoting activities that leverage the region’s culture and natural environment. Additionally, the hotel participates in “Kotonoomusubi Project,” a business matching initiative hosted by Kyoto City connecting accommodation facilities with local industries, thereby contributing to the promotion of intra-regional economic circulation through strengthened collaboration with local companies.

In fiscal year 2025, various experiences are scheduled to continue, including sake tasting and brewery tours at the historic Sasaki Brewery, studio visits and Kyoto umbrella-making workshops at Hiyoshiya, rides on the Sagano Romantic Train, guided rickshaw tours around Arashiyama and Sagano, traditional Japanese confectionery-making experiences at Kanshundo, pickling workshops at Kyoto pickle shops, and special spring visit programs at Hogonin Temple.

The Resorttrust Group positions “providing services that accompany each individual’s life,” “contributing to regional revitalization,” and “reducing environmental impact” as key management issues and continues its efforts toward realizing a sustainable society. Through hotel operations under the theme of “Sustainable Resort,” the group aims to protect the natural environment while revitalizing tourism and promoting regional development. By offering cultural and experiential programs unique to each region, the group endeavors to create rich and fulfilling moments. Going forward, the group intends to continue contributing to building better lives and a sustainable society through activities that deepen ties with local communities.
