Marriott International and Hotel Management International Co., Ltd. (HMI Hotel Group) have announced a strategic partnership to rebrand seven HMI Group hotels located in five cities across Japan into “Marriott Hotels” and “Courtyard by Marriott.” The hotels scheduled for rebranding are as follows:

Marriott Hotels (4 locations):

  • Hamamatsu Marriott Hotel (Shizuoka Prefecture, Hamamatsu City, currently “Grand Hotel Hamamatsu”)
  • Kyoto Marriott Hotel (Kyoto Prefecture, Kyoto City, currently “Hotel Heian no Mori Kyoto”)
  • Kobe Marriott Hotel (Hyogo Prefecture, Kobe City, currently “Hotel Crown Palace Kobe”)
  • Okinawa Marriott Resort & Spa (Okinawa Prefecture, Onna Village, currently “Rizzan Sea-Park Hotel Tancha Bay”)

Courtyard by Marriott (3 locations):

  • Courtyard by Marriott Kobe (Hyogo Prefecture, Kobe City, currently “Hotel Pearl City Kobe”)
  • Courtyard by Marriott Kokura (Fukuoka Prefecture, Kitakyushu City, currently “Hotel Crown Palace Kokura”)
  • Courtyard by Marriott Kitakyushu (Fukuoka Prefecture, Kitakyushu City, currently “Hotel Crown Palace Kitakyushu”)

This rebranding will further enhance Marriott International’s presence in Japan, marking the company’s debut in both Hamamatsu and Kitakyushu. It provides an excellent opportunity to showcase Japan’s beautiful nature and rich culture to the world. Approximately 2,200 rooms will be rebranded in total, making it the largest single contract Marriott International has signed in Japan. Following renovations, the hotels are scheduled to open sequentially from the fall of 2025.

Rajeev Menon, President of Marriott International Asia Pacific (excluding Greater China), stated, “Our expanding facility portfolio across Japan accelerates our global growth, and our business partnership with the HMI Hotel Group will further elevate hospitality standards in Japan.” Meanwhile, Tatsurou Hira, President of Hotel Management International, welcomed the new chapter through the partnership with Marriott International and expressed his intention to offer exceptional hospitality leveraging years of experience in the hotel industry.
