Founded in 1905, Nippon Travel Agency is one of Japan’s most historic travel companies. It has consistently strived to meet the evolving needs of each era by offering attractive travel opportunities and warm services. The company has been actively working on initiatives that emphasize “people,” “scenery,” and “culture,” with a view towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and realizing its corporate philosophy and vision.

With its GSTC membership, Nippon Travel Agency is further committing to the promotion and development of sustainable tourism within Japan’s tourism industry. This involves collaborating with local communities and tourism operators to enhance efforts based on the GSTC criteria. The company’s activities include planning and selling travel products that contribute to carbon offsetting, developing co-creation programs with companies engaged in SDGs, and creating educational materials, all aimed at contributing to a sustainable future for society as a whole.

The GSTC is an international non-profit organization that manages the global standard for sustainable tourism, the GSTC Criteria. It also promotes sustainable tourism through a range of activities, including the development of educational programs for capacity building in the sustainable tourism sector. These activities are not only used for international accreditation of sustainable tourism certification bodies but also serve as guidelines for sustainable tourism destinations worldwide.

Through its GSTC membership, Nippon Travel Agency commits to contributing to a sustainable society, working together with customers, suppliers, and employees to contribute to the future of our global environment and society at large.
