Keihan Hotels & Resorts Co., Ltd. will initiate the “TAGAYASE PROJECT” from February 6, 2024. This project involves hotel employees engaging in agricultural activities to protect, nurture, and revitalize the local landscape and food culture. The company, having already contributed to regional revitalization and environmental conservation through various activities, aims to deepen its contribution to the local community with this new project and build a new relationship between hotels and the local area.

Specific initiatives include focusing on urban agriculture and urban beekeeping at The Thousand Kyoto. In urban agriculture, the hotel has partnered with farms in Kita-ku, Kita-Kamigyo, Kyoto, engaging in “supportive farming,” where hotel staff participate in farming activities to convey the charm of local vegetables. The urban beekeeping initiative involves raising honey bees on the hotel’s rooftop and harvesting honey, contributing to biodiversity conservation.

At Biwako Hotel, the “Satoyama Gourmet Project” promotes the consumption of local produce to protect the region. Additionally, the “Mountain and Wild Grass Project” cultivates a culture of enjoying the natural bounty and changing seasons of agriculture.
