Yamanashi Prefecture’s Fuefuki City and JTB Corporation inaugurated a new tourism hub, “Lily Bell Hütte,” at the scenic “FUJIYAMA Twin Terrace” overlooking Mount Fuji on April 25, 2024. Named using the German word “Hütte,” meaning mountain hut, this facility is located at an altitude of 1,300 meters. Its purpose is to provide a resting place for tourists and to disseminate local information.

The “FUJIYAMA Twin Terrace” is situated at Shinmichi Pass at an altitude of 1,600 meters, offering panoramic views of Lake Yamanaka, Lake Kawaguchi, the sea of clouds, and Mount Fuji. However, the surrounding roads are narrow and pose traffic dangers, so a “Park & Bus Ride” system from the lily of the valley parking area has been implemented. “Lily Bell Hütte” serves as the gateway for this bus ride, with the introduction of EV buses aiming to balance nature conservation and tourism.

JTB has developed this project as part of its “Regional Co-creation Project,” contributing to regional revitalization. It functions as the entrance to “FUJIYAMA Twin Terrace,” enhancing the mountain resort ambiance with a wooden deck and trailer houses. The facility includes a café that serves local fruits and Fuefuki City’s local gourmet “Rā-hō,” as well as a tourist information center. Additionally, “Lily Bell Hütte market” sells local specialties and souvenirs.

Not only does it facilitate bus operations to “FUJIYAMA Twin Terrace,” but it also strengthens connections with the Ashigawa district through a shuttle bus, maximizing the area’s appeal and encouraging interaction between locals and tourists. This initiative aims to revitalize the local economy, create jobs, and protect and utilize the region’s natural environment and cultural heritage.

Through this project, Fuefuki City and JTB aim to showcase the region’s attractions to a broader audience and promote sustainable tourism. The establishment of “Lily Bell Hütte” is part of regional promotion efforts, providing an environment where more visitors can enjoy the spectacular views of Mount Fuji while conserving nature.
