With the continued increase in inbound tourism, health issues during travel have become a significant concern, making it essential for hotels to strengthen their support capabilities. In 2024, the number of foreign visitors to Japan reached a record high of 36.87 million, and Seibu Prince Hotels Worldwide also experienced a substantial year-on-year increase in foreign guests. In response, the company has been introducing this service to alleviate concerns among international travelers and address challenges such as language barriers and staffing issues.
“HOTEL de DOCTOR24” enables guests to scan a QR code installed in the hotel and input their symptoms and personal information via smartphone. An online medical consultation can be conducted as early as one hour later. The service includes medical interpretation in 22 languages, allowing guests to consult with doctors without worrying about language barriers. If a prescription is issued, it is faxed to a designated pharmacy, where the guest can pick up the medication directly.
In urgent cases, the hotel works in coordination with medical institutions. Information such as symptoms and medical history obtained during the consultation is shared with the receiving facility. The hotel arranges for emergency transportation and ensures that medical details are accurately conveyed, resulting in shorter response times and smoother medical assistance.
The service fee is ¥55,000, which covers the consultation, nurse-led interview, interpretation, and prescription issuance. This uniform fee applies to all participating facilities across Japan. The service is available at locations spanning from Hokkaido to Kyushu, and further expansion is planned. Seibu Prince Hotels Worldwide states that it will continue to promote the development of an environment where international visitors can stay with peace of mind.
