Super Hotel Introduces “wash+ Comfort”: Promoting Sustainable Stays with a Detergent-Free Laundry System that Reduces Environmental Impact

Super Hotel Co., Ltd. has announced the introduction of wash+ Comfort,” an eco-friendly laundry system that achieves high cleaning performance without using detergent, as part of its efforts to offer environmentally conscious lodging experiences. The system was first introduced at Super Hotel Premier Ginza in June 2025, followed by a trial operation at Super Hotel Premier Tokyo Station Yaesu Central Exit in August. Full implementation is scheduled to begin in early November. Operating 177 hotels in Japan and abroad under the concept of “Natural, Organic, Smart,” the company continues to promote sustainable initiatives that are gentle on both people and the planet.

Super Hotel has long aimed to reduce environmental impact and contribute to a sustainable society through every aspect of its guest rooms, facilities, and services. In addition to eco-conscious room design, the company offers a program that allows guests to participate in environmental protection by offsetting 100% of CO₂ emissions generated during their stay, known as the Carbon-Neutral Stay.” This initiative earned Super Hotel recognition as the first “Eco-First Company” in the hotel industry and a three-star rating in the “Sustainable★Selection 2025.”

The newly introduced “wash+ Comfort” is a laundry system that removes dirt from clothes using new technology without detergent. In addition to reducing environmental impact, it also helps conserve water, providing guests with a new option for a sustainable lodging experience. Staff have noted that “the cashless system makes it easier for international guests to use, and the automatic detergent injection mechanism enables smart and simple operation.” Furthermore, by switching to electric dryers, the system has reduced gas emissions, supporting environmental preservation together with hotel guests.

The “wash+ Comfort” system uses “wash+ Water,” a 99.9% water-based cleaning solution that contains no synthetic surfactants or chemical substances and is allergen-free. Utilizing the power of ions, it combines high cleaning performance with gentleness on the skin. This new laundry technology significantly reduces the environmental impact of wastewater while contributing to water conservation. Because it does not contain synthetic chemicals, it is safe for people with sensitive skin and contributes to health and well-being; however, the company notes that it may not be completely non-irritating for everyone.

This system is characterized by its high cleaning power and skin-friendly performance without the use of detergents or synthetic chemicals, as well as its reduced wastewater load and water-saving effect contributing to resource conservation. It has also been granted a domestic patent, ensuring high reliability as an environmental technology. Super Hotel aims to further strengthen environmental initiatives across its entire hotel network by utilizing this technology and to work together with its guests to achieve a sustainable society.

Super Hotel Co., Ltd. operates 176 hotels in Japan and one overseas (Myanmar) as a hotel brand that promotes a healthy and sustainable lifestyle. It is the only company in the hotel industry certified under the Ministry of the Environment’s “Eco-First Program,” which recognizes corporations leading advanced environmental conservation initiatives. In addition to environmental preservation, the company actively engages in SDGs-related initiatives, including regional revitalization and next-generation education.
