The Dormy Inn business hotel chain, operated by Kyoritsu Maintenance Co., Ltd., is providing opportunities for middle and high school students to deepen their understanding of careers in the hotel industry.
As part of this initiative, from February 14th to 15th, 2024, a vocational experience program was held at Dormy Inn Toyama for students from Toyama Prefectural Shikino High School. This program offered students the chance to learn about the various departmental roles and responsibilities involved in hotel operations, as well as the efforts made to provide guests with a comfortable stay.
During the vocational experience program, students were taught about the hotel industry and the joy of working at Dormy Inn through classroom sessions, which covered the roles of different departments. Following this, they engaged in hands-on experiences such as front desk reception, room checks, and preparation of the large communal bath, through which they learned hotel manners and customer service skills. These experiences aimed to equip students with the attitudes and knowledge necessary for work, and to deepen their thinking about career choices.
The participating students from Shikino High School were interested in the service industry and were particularly keen to learn about professionalism in customer service within the hotel sector. Koichi Inaba, the area leader of Dormy Inn Toyama, hoped that through this workplace experience, students would feel the appeal of the hotel industry and that it would contribute to their future career development in the tourism sector.
