Tokyo Tatemono Co., Ltd. has developed the “Hilton Kyoto,” a building that has received the “DBJ Green Building Certification (Plan Certification)” as a top-class building in terms of “environmental and social considerations” in Japan. This certification was established by the Development Bank of Japan Inc. and is a system that comprehensively evaluates environmental initiatives through real estate. Notably, the achievement of receiving the highest rank of 5 stars and obtaining certification at the planning stage is a first for a hotel.
Hilton Kyoto is scheduled to open on September 12, 2024. In its product planning and development, the hotel focuses on reducing environmental impact, disaster prevention, and crime prevention to provide a comfortable and pleasant experience for users. Specifically, energy-saving and resource-saving measures such as improving air conditioning efficiency, utilizing natural light from shared area windows, installing water-saving equipment, using recycled materials, and adopting Low-e glass have been highly evaluated. Additionally, the hotel has implemented excellent performance measures such as using dry-type sound insulation walls between guest rooms and between guest rooms and corridors, ensuring sufficient ceiling heights, and equipping rooms with independent washbasins and bedside power outlets.
Furthermore, the hotel strives to enhance convenience and comfort by implementing health promotion measures for users, such as installing gyms and pools, and establishing exclusive lounges for guests. Environmental risk countermeasures include the installation of floodboards to prevent water damage. In terms of disaster prevention, the hotel strengthens disaster resilience with emergency generators, dual power supply lines, and the provision of power from emergency communal area backup power to private areas during emergencies. Additionally, security measures are reinforced with restrictions on elevator stop floors and two-step security using IC cards at guest room entrances. The hotel also implements measures to accommodate diverse users, such as multilingual announcements within the facility, front desk staff capable of handling foreign languages, and provisions for Halal and Kosher meals.
Hilton Kyoto is a reinforced concrete (partially steel-reinforced concrete) structure with two basement levels and nine above-ground floors, designed and constructed by Takenaka Corporation, with interior design by Hashimoto Yukio Design Studio. The hotel features 313 guest rooms and well-equipped facilities, including restaurants, banquet halls, conference rooms, a spa, a gym, and an indoor pool. Construction began on April 1, 2022, and completion is scheduled for May 15, 2024.
Tokyo Tatemono Group intends to use this certification acquisition as an opportunity to continue promoting the acquisition of external evaluations and certifications related to green buildings, such as the “DBJ Green Building Certification,” and to persist in initiatives that consider the environment and society.
