The site of the former accommodation facility “Kasado Island Heights” located on Kasado Island in Kudamatsu City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, is set to transform under a new development plan. A resort hotel and commercial area development plan proposed by Takayama Petroleum Gas Co., Ltd. has been adopted for this site. The company aims for a grand opening in 2026 and is advancing the project with a total investment of about 1.3 billion yen.

The site covers an area of approximately 14,752 square meters and faces the Prefectural Kasado Island Line. According to the plan, the hotel will be a wooden single-story building, with all 30 rooms offering ocean views and equipped with private outdoor baths. The facility will also include a restaurant, an esthetic salon, and an observation deck.

In the commercial area, shops, cafes, and rental spaces with kitchens will be established, expected to become a place of interaction between local residents and tourists. Regular events are also planned, and a concierge desk will be set up to maximize the island’s appeal.

This project is supported by the “Setouchi Tourism Promotion Organization,” which handles tourism promotion and marketing for the seven prefectures of the Seto Inland Sea. The business plan will be concretized through a basic agreement with the city by the end of the year, with the land leased from the city and the construction and operation of the building carried out by Takayama Petroleum Gas.

The development is highly anticipated to revitalize not just Kasado Island but the entire city of Kudamatsu. Noboru Nakayama, the head of the City Planning and Finance Department, has expressed his welcome, stating that the project will greatly contribute to creating excitement throughout the city. Thus, Kasado Island is poised to take a new step forward.
