Posted: 2026.10.17The three-day weekend from Saturday, November 21 to Monday, November 23, 2026 (Labor Thanksgiving Day) will be the last long weekend of autumn, and it arrives in a year when the foliage is expected to peak slightly late: Weathernews' first forecast puts peak colors in Kyoto's Arashiyama around November 24. How that shift in peak timing moves ryokan bookings was first mapped on a September 25 snapshot, before the night of November 21 reached LT45, in Japan Fall Foliage 2026: Nagano 9 Days Late, Ryokan Bookings Checked, which looked at five prefectures on an occupancy basis (OTA-listed inventory, estimated). This article is its follow-up, switching the metric to the remaining-room rate. Sanfair SAGA 2026: Saga Biz Hotels 98.4% Day 1, 74.1% Day 2
Posted: 2026.10.17Ahead of Sanfair SAGA 2026, the 36th National Industrial Education Fair held in Saga Prefecture on Saturday October 24 and Sunday October 25, 2026 (venues include SAGA Arena, SAGA Plaza and Saga City Cultural Hall), we tracked booking curves from 45 days before each stay date to the latest observation. For business hotels in the prefecture (N=19 properties / 1,929 rooms), Day 1 (October 24) had reached an estimated OCC (OTA-listed inventory basis) of 98.4% with a sold-out property share of 63.2% at the latest reading, 9 days before the stay. Day 2 (October 25), by contrast, stood at only 74.1% with a 10.5% sold-out share at 10 days out. The normal Saturday the week before, October 17, reached 92.6% at 2 days out, so Day 1 had already passed the level a normal Saturday reaches at the last minute some 30 days in advance. Yamaguchi Silver Week: Ryokan 99.5% on 9/22, Business 65.5% on 9/23
Posted: 2026.10.17In 2026, Silver Week became a five-day holiday running from Saturday, September 19 to Wednesday, September 23, because September 22, sandwiched between Respect for the Aged Day (September 21) and Autumnal Equinox Day (September 23), became a national holiday. Lining up booking progress for these five nights at ryokan (traditional Japanese inns) and business hotels in Yamaguchi Prefecture shows that the first three nights (9/19–9/21) filled to 96.7–100.0% in both segments by the day before arrival, while a gap remained over the last two nights. On 9/22 (Tue, holiday), ryokan reached 99.5% (51 properties / 1,599 rooms) versus 86.9% for business hotels (41 properties / 3,988 rooms). On the final night, 9/23 (Wed, Autumnal Equinox Day), ryokan stood at 86.6% (52 properties / 1,603 rooms) versus 65.5% for business hotels (42 properties / 4,341 rooms), widening the segment gap to 12.6pt and 21.1pt respectively. Yamagata Ryokan Oct 24: 85.2% at 10 Days Out vs 94.3% on Long Weekend
Posted: 2026.10.16The HotelBank Editorial Team lined up booking curves for 110 ryokan (2,910 rooms) in Yamagata Prefecture using observations through October 14, 2026. Saturday, October 10, the first day of the three-day weekend, had built up to an estimated OCC (based on OTA-listed inventory) of 94.3% at 10 days before the stay date. Saturday, October 24 stood at 85.2% at the same 10-day mark, a gap of 9.1pt. Saturday, October 17 was also only at 85.7% three days out, 12.4pt short of the 98.1% the long-weekend opener had reached at the same three-day mark. Niigata Settled ADR 2026: City −11.9% vs Business +5.4% in August
Posted: 2026.10.16Comparing confirmed months year on year, the settled ADR estimate (tax-excluded equivalent) for city hotels and business hotels in Niigata Prefecture split in opposite directions in August 2026: city hotels came in at ¥10,400, down 11.9% YoY, while business hotels came in at ¥8,400, up 5.4% — same prefecture, same summer, opposite signs. The divergence is not an August-only event. Across the nine confirmed months of January–September 2026, business hotels were up in eight months (January–September average +5.1%) and city hotels were down in eight (average −4.6%), a pattern that has held since the start of the year. Naha Tug-of-War Weekend 2026: Okinawa Business Hotels 97.7% to 84.8%
Posted: 2026.10.15The 56th Naha Otsunahiki Festival (那覇大綱挽まつり), one of Naha City’s three major festivals, fell on Japan’s three-day weekend from Saturday, October 10 to Monday, October 12, 2026 (a national holiday). Tracking estimated OCC (based on OTA-listed inventory) by stay date for Okinawa’s business hotels (N=138–139 properties, 12,792–12,802 rooms), the first night of October 10 — the night of the Traditional Performing Arts Night Parade — already stood a clear step ahead at 76.5% 45 days before the stay date, and reached 97.7% at the final observation just before arrival. By contrast, the main day of October 11, when the tug-of-war itself was held on National Route 58, rose from 70.1% to 93.8%, and the final night of October 12 rose from 61.1% to 84.8%: the ranking at 45 days out became the ranking at landing. On Day 1, Saturday October 10, all three types finished above 96% on the night before arrival. Oct 10, the first night of the three-day weekend, opened at an estimated OCC (OTA listed-inventory basis) of 80.8% 45 days out, passed 87.8% at 30 days and 93.8% at 14 days, and landed at 99.4% just before arrival. Sunday Oct 11 started lower at 68.7% 45 days out, but added 12.0 points in the final week to reach 97.7%. Meanwhile Oct 24, the weekend that falls in peak foliage season, stood at 87.5% 12 days out — 8.3 points behind Oct 10 at the same lead time (95.8%), but ahead of Oct 17 at the same point (84.4%). Posted: 2026.10.13We lined up estimated OCC (based on OTA-listed inventory) for 49 ryokan (1,647 rooms) and 23 business hotels (1,910 rooms) in Akita Prefecture across October's three-day weekend (October 10–12), a regular weekend (October 17–18) and the autumn-foliage peak weekend (October 24), and the "peaks" and "troughs" of demand fell in clearly different places. On Saturday, October 10, the first day of the three-day weekend, ryokan had climbed to 99.2% and business hotels to 98.0% as observed the day before arrival. On the final day, Monday, October 12 (a public holiday), ryokan stood at only 78.0% and business hotels at 63.2% as observed two days before arrival, a drop of 21–35pt within the same holiday weekend.
